| Synopsis: After invading the stages around the world, El General is transformed into the leading role in “Granpa”; a new film directed by the successful director Joseph Medina. The film shows up the importance of the family values as well as the respect toward grandparents because “Everyone wants to reach old age, but no one wants to be old”. In Addition the film projects a certain truth which usually escapes us regarding old age and its consequences. It is a family oriented adventure, which encircles profound feelings, analyzes our moral values and at the same time provides good humor. In the movie we experience the strong bond between Granpa and his grandson, Raymond. The plot develops as a normal day in the life of the Granpa, who host a program on a local children’s radio station (Radio Kids) after working there for 20 years, Granpa is informed that he has been fired by the station’s owner (Roberto “Iron Fist” Duran) who blames the manager of the radio station (Ivan Barrios) for supporting the old man’s witty ideas. Upon finding himself without work, grandpa is forced to move in with his son Pablo (Rupert Vanderpool). His daughter-in-law Sara (Wanda Acuna) doesn’t like the idea at all because she sees Granpa as a grumpy, old, introverted man. Nevertheless, for Granpa, the company of his grandson Raymond (Carlitos) offers him the perfect opportunity he has been looking for, to regain his youthfulness. Everyone is affected by an unforeseen chain of events that takes place, Granpa gets into a car accident, and is represented in court by a very unique lawyer (Fernando Arau). Consequently, the counterpart (Alejandra Gutierrez) manages to have the Judge (Amy Quichiz) condem Granpa to a nursing home where the head nurse (Dorismar) detests her work, because taking care of the elderly, reminds her that one day she too will become old. To keep the residents calm they give them a medicine, which instead of making them feel better, makes them crazy and it’s at this point where the hospital manager (Ruben Blades) enters into action. His colleague, (Gizelle D’Cole) who only lives to be fashionable, also strives for the wellbeing of the patients. Granpa creates a beautiful friendship with various patients in the nursing home, among them, number 149 (Raymond Pozzo), Carmelo (Omar Alfanno), and Mariano (Johnny Pacheco) who enters into the nursing home as a result of a scheme of his own daughter (Erika Ender) and almost contagiously, Dulce (Anayka) is also tricked by some of the residents. But, in the midst of all of this drama there is an unknown . . . What would happen if Granpa was a millionaire? There is where Javier Romero and Geraldine Bazan enter the picture; both are looking for a lost lottery ticket, that has not been claimed. In the end for sure, it is you who will be the winner. Don’t miss enjoying this great movie . . . See you at the movies! |
